Churchill beats Lakeland 28-21 as Snead, Adams post milestone nights

LIVONIA — 9/14/2026

Two of the best individual performances Churchill has seen in years came in the same game, and 18 different Chargers recorded a tackle.

Livonia Churchill beat White Lake Lakeland 28-21 at home Friday night, and the Chargers got there on the strength of two individual performances the program hasn't seen in years, plus a defense that put 18 different names in the tackle column.

The matchup was a new one. Churchill is in its first season in the Lakes Valley Conference after years in the KLAA. Livonia Public Schools' other two high schools, Franklin and Stevenson, are in the same 12-team league, along with Walled Lake Central, Northern and Western, South Lyon, South Lyon East, Milford, Farmington, North Farmington and White Lake Lakeland. According to the Michigan High School Football Data Warehouse, which tracks historical results statewide, Friday was the first time Churchill and Lakeland had met.

Snead carries the offense

Isaac Snead didn't share the backfield much. He took 23 of Churchill's 24 carries, gained 173 yards and scored twice, roughly 7.5 yards every time he touched it and about 90 percent of the team's rushing production. Head coach Allen Feigel said it was the most rushing yards a Churchill player has put up in a single game since 2022.

The volume tells its own story. Churchill ran the ball 24 times and threw it 11. Of the 302 yards the Chargers gained, 173 came on Snead's carries, and he scored two of Churchill's four touchdowns.

Adams does a little of everything

Sage Adams finished with 20 tackles. Churchill recorded 73 as a team, which means better than one in four stops on the night belonged to him. Feigel said no Churchill player has had a bigger tackle game since 2008, a span of 18 seasons.

He wasn't only chasing plays down, either. Adams added a sack and picked off a pass that he took back for a touchdown. Six of Churchill's 28 points came off his interception return.

Bennett throws, catches and tackles

Bryce Bennett had the most unusual line on the sheet. He threw one pass and completed it for 54 yards. He caught one pass and turned it into a 17-yard touchdown. Then he went to work on defense, where he added five tackles and an interception. A completion, a touchdown catch and a takeaway: Bennett was the only Charger to record all three.

Moore and the passing game

Nik Grzanowski went 6 of 10 for 55 yards and the touchdown throw to Bennett. Churchill attempted just 11 passes as a team on a run-first night, 10 of them from Grzanowski, and he completed 60 percent of what he put up.

When the Chargers did throw it, John Moore was the primary target. His three catches went for 84 yards, an average of 28 per reception and more than three-quarters of Churchill's total passing yardage.

Braylon Hall was the utility piece. He caught three passes, took his one carry for 20 yards and chipped in two tackles on defense, showing up on both sides of the ball.

Depth on defense

Behind Adams, Aaron Cerroni was the next man up with nine tackles. Alex Barr added six. Bennett and Joey Groth each finished with five. Ben Milewski had three tackles and the team's second sack, giving Churchill two players with a sack on the night. Dion Wideman turned his two tackles into a night's work by adding the Chargers' third interception.

The rest of the sheet is where the depth shows. Jeffery Meeker, Jackson Schilbe, Elijah Wright and Uche Gabriel each had three tackles. Austin Timberlake, Brennan Greff and Carter Brown had two apiece. Henry Sillers, Eli Rychlinski and Johnnie Davis got on the board with one each. Eighteen players in all recorded at least one stop, 13 of them with three or fewer.

Churchill's three takeaways, from Adams, Bennett and Wideman, stand out. One went back for a touchdown and the other two handed the ball back to Churchill's offense.

Up next

The win moves Churchill to 2-1. The Chargers opened with a 27-8 win over Canton on Aug. 27 before falling at South Lyon on Sept. 3. Through three games they've scored 69 points and allowed 78, with both home games going in the win column.

Churchill is back on the road this Friday, Sept. 18, at South Lyon East. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
